Katsina
United and Kano Pillars are back in the Nigeria Premier League after spending
one year in the lower league.
The northern rivals secured promotion from the Nigeria
National League (NNL) on Wednesday afternoon.
Katsina United defeated Kano Pillars 1-0 in a keenly contested NNL Super Eight playoff tie at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
Former
Enyimba forward Victor Mbaoma scored the decisive goal in the 59th minute.
With DMD beating EFCC 2-0 in the other game, both clubs
gained promotion to the Nigerian top flight.
Pillars top the Northern Conference standings with six
points, with Katsina United finishing in second place with the same points but
an inferior goal difference.
The two clubs joined Sporting Lagos, which secured NPL berth on Monday.
